7 Weeks In... Let's talk breast-feeding!

Hey Everyone!

Baby D is smiling and coo-ing away at this point! Also hitting his first really big growth spurt and what does that mean? MORE MILK... 😳. Which in return means more boob time and less relax time for me haha. Breastfeeding has been exhausting yet amazing. I do know that not everyone has the same experience as I am having. Because I have had a good experience so far with breastfeeding my son. My supply is good and he is gaining weight!

Mamas:

I am no expert simply a mom speaking from current personal experience.

I do feel that my diet while I was pregnant and my current diet have a lot to do with my production level. A good healthy diet and healthy lifestyle only further suggests healthy breastmilk. I know other than eating healthy food, I drank a ton of water throughout my pregnancy. And now that I am breast-feeding I am so thirsty all the time, so I always make sure I have water next to me!

When Baby D was only a day old he was having a little trouble staying latched. We used a nipple shield and it worked perfectly. I recommend trying one if your LO (little one) is having some trouble as well. Now baby is lathcing just fine without the shield. However I still use it from time to time for my own comfort lol. Also for my soreness I use Lanolin and its amazing! Also you can apply it as much as needed and you do not have to wash it off before nursing your LO. ➡️➡️➡️

Breast-feeding in public is completely acceptable mamas! Now whether you prefer to cover up or not is a personal choice! Do not let anyone make you feel uncomfortable for feeding your child! It is a beautiful thing! I cover up when in public because I prefer it that way. If my son needs to eat, he needs to eat no matter where I am. I try to plan with pumped milk and a bottle when I can. But I know one thing is for sure having a plan and being a mom means being able to adjust any plan quickly lol. But you should always do what is most comfortable for you and your LO.

Sometimes I feel that there is a lot of pressure on new moms to breastfeed. Just know that breastfeeding is not always easy but worth it. It takes patience, practice, and dedication. (Just like anything else in life). The bond created through this beautiful process is incredible.

Here are my top 5 breastfeeding tips:

  1. Be patient and relax when feeding.

  2. Stay hydrated.

  3. Lanolin is amazing!

  4. Make your significant other, mom, best friend, anyone massage your back and shoulders!

  5. Practice makes perfect!

Milk drunk is the best drunk!

Have an amazing Tuesday!
